A social network service focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Most social network services are web based and provide a variety of ways for users to interact, such as email and instant messanging services.
The example of the social network service are the FACEBOOK,SKYROCK AND THE BEBO..

Facebook, formerly Thefacebook, is a free-access social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc.Users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people. People can also add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. The website's name refers to the paper facebooks depicting members of a campus US colleges and preparatory school give to incoming students, faculty, and staff as a way to get to know other people on campus.
community that some

Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook with fellow computer science major students and his roommates Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes while he was a student at Harvard University Website membership was initially limited to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It later expanded further to include any university student, then high school students, and, finally, to anyone aged 13 and over. The website currently has more than 175 million active users worldwide.

Facebook has met with some controversy over the past few years. It has been blocked intermittently in several countries including Syria and Iran. It has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting time using the service.Privacy has also been an issue, and it has been compromised several times. It is also facing several lawsuits from a number of Zuckerberg's former classmates, who claim that Facebook had stolen their source code and other intellectual property.

The advent of Facebook came about as a spin-off of a Harvard University version of Hot or Not Mark Zuckerberg, while attending Harvard as a sophomore, concocted Facemash on October 28, 2003. Zuckerberg was blogging about a girl and trying to think of something to do to get her off his mind: called Facemash.

Facebook users may choose to join one or more networks, organized by city, workplace, school, and region. These networks help users connect with members of the same network. Users can also connect with friends, giving them access to their friends' profiles.

The website is free to users, but generates revenue from advertising. This includes banner ads. By default, the viewing of detailed profile data is restricted to users from the same network and "reasonable community limitations". Users can create profiles including photos and lists of personal interests, exchange private or public messages, and join groups of friends.

Microsoft is Facebook's exclusive partner for serving banner adversiting, and as such Facebook only serves advertisements that exist in Microsoft's advertisement inventory. According to comScore, an internet marketing company, Facebook collects as much data from its visitors as Google and Microsoft, but considerably less than Yahoo!.

The media often compares Facebook to MySpace, but one significant difference between the two websites is the level of customization. MySpace allows users to decorate their profiles using HTML and Cascading Style Sheet(CSS), while Facebook only allows plain text.

Facebook has a number of features with which users may interact. They include the Wall, a space on every user's profile page that allows friends to post messages for the user to see, Pokes, which allows users to send a virtual "poke" to each other (a notification that tells a user that they have been poked), Photos, where users can upload albums and photos, and Status, which allows users to inform their friends of their whereabouts and actions. A user's Wall is visible to anyone who is able to see that user's profile, which depends on their privacy settings. In July 2007, Facebook began allowing users to post attachments to the Wall, whereas the Wall was previously limited to textual content only.

Facebook has met with some controversy over the past few years. In October 2005, the University of New Mexico blocked access to Facebook from its campus computers and networks. It cited a violation of the university's Acceptable Use Policy for abusing computer resources as the reason, stating the website forces use of the university's credentials for activity not related to the university. The school later unblocked Facebook after the website rectified the situation by displaying a notice on the login page stating the credentials used on the website are separate from the ones used for their school accounts. The Ontario government also blocked access to Facebook for its employees in May 2007, stating the website was "not directly related to the workplace".

Facebook won a lawsuit against Canadian Adam Guerbuez, of Montreal, worth $873 million. Guerbuez had spammed the website with various advertisements including penis enhancement marijuana. Guerbuez founded Atlantis Blue Capital.

This is a list of features that can be found on the website. Basic features include friend networking with others and posting on a "wall".

Skyrock.com is a social networking siteoffering its members a free, personal web space where they can create a blog, add a profile, and exchange messages with other registered members. The site also offers a specific space for members who create blogs showcasing their original musical compositions.

Skyrock ranks as the world’s 7th largest social network with over 21 million visitors in June 2008

Skyrock.com began as a blogging site, Skyblog.com, founded by Skyrock CEO Pierre Bellanger in December 2002.

In May 2007, after abandoning the Skyblog.com brand , Skyrock.com was launched as a full-scale social network.

Despite being ranked by comScore as the world’s 7th biggest social network with 21 million visitors worldwide, Skyrock.com is less known than other social networks on an international scale. This is largely due to its origins as a French-language network, but also the fact that its target is young adults aged under 25.

Alexa consistently ranks Skyrock among the top 10 sites in France, in Belgium and in Switzerland.

Massively embraced by the young generation, Skyrock.com is not always understood by older generations who associate the platform with potential dangers. Given the platform’s high penetration rate in France, Skyrock has its share of highs and lows in the public eye, and deals with its share of uses and abuses. For example, in several French middle schools, students used the platform to malign school personnel, resulting in their expulsion and in the issuing of alerts by schools to warn parents and students about such behavior

Furthermore, certain American newspapers have attempted to associate the breakout of the Paris Riots in 2005 to usage of Skyblogs However, institutions of the French state have never filed formal complaints indicting the usage of Skyrock Blogs.

Bebo is a popular social networking site, founded in January 2005. It can be used in many countries including Ireland, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. A Polishversion was launched recently, which uses a different user database. There are plans for French,German and other versions. Founded by husband and wife Micheal Xochi Birch , Bebo had a major relaunch in July 2005. and

It was bought by AOL on March 13, 2008 for $850 m (£417 m).

"Bebo" is an acronym for "Blog early, blog often"

Bebo is similar to other social networking site. Each profile must include two specific modules, a comment section where other users can leave a message, and a list of the user's friends. Users can select from many more modules to add. By default, when an account is created the profile is private, which limits access to friends specifically added. The user may select the "Public Profile" option so as the profile will still be visible to any other members of a school they may have joined. Profiles may be personalized by a design template that is the background of the user's profile, known as a skin.

The BEBO PROFILE CONTAINS:

A Web search engine is a tool designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are usually presented in a list and are commonly called hits. The information may consist of web pages, images, information and other types of files. Some search engines also mine data available in newsbooks, databases, or open directories. Unlike Web directories, which are maintained by human editors, search engines operate algorithmically or are a mixture of algorithmic and human input.

There are many search engine exist right now..3 of them are the lycos,Altavista and the Hotbot..
The 1st search engine is the Lycos.......
Lycos is one of the oldest (est. 1995) and most widely known Internet brands in the world, evolving from one of the original search engines on the web, into a comprehensive network of sites that foster online communities.

The Lycos Network provides web search and navigation, homepage building and web hosting services, web-based e-mail, online games and cutting-edge video platforms. Lycos's award-winning products and services include tools for blogging, web publishing and hosting, video sharing, social networking, games, e-mail, and search. Lycos is an Internet web portal.
The Lycos search engine allows you to search the Web for sites, sounds, images, and also by subject category. The search engine also allows an advanced customizable search feature, top news, top 5% sites, point review, a city guide, people finder, and road maps.
Lycos began as a search engine research project by Dr. Michael Loren Mauldin of Carnegie Mellon University in 1994. Bob Davis joined the company as its CEO and first employee in 1995. Lycos then enjoyed several years of growth and, in 1999, became the most visited online destination in the world, with a global presence in more than 40 countries. Lycos was sold to Terra Networks of Spain in May 2000 for $5.4 billion, forming a new company Terra Lycos and maintaining a position as one of the world's largest Internet companies. Shortly after the merger, Davis left the company to become a venture capitalist with Highland Capital Partners in Boston. In October 2004, Lycos was sold by Terra's parent company Telefonica to Daum Communications Corporation, the second largest Internet portal in Korea, becoming once again Lycos Inc.Unlike many of its competitors, Lycos People Search lets you search for both individuals and businesses at one place. This naturally saves time and effort on your part.Lycos People Search is not at all complicated to use, making it especially appealing for people too busy to have time for initial query pages that require you to type a lot of information before you can proceed to the next step. It is also good for people with little experience with online tools.Lycos may have been one of the top search engines a decade ago, but its glory days are long past. Now, its size is just a tiny part of what competitors like Yahoo and Google have involved into. Ultimately, the efficiency of Lycos People Search will greatly depend on Lycos' marketing strategy and its ability to continuously offer services that Yahoo and Google can't.

The 2nd search engine is the ALTAVISTA..

AltaVista was created by researchers at Digital Equipment Corporation's Western Research Laboratory who were trying to provide services to make finding files on the public network easier. Although there is some dispute about who was responsible for the original idea two key participants were Louis Monier, who wrote the crawler, and Michael Burrows, who wrote the indexer. The name AltaVista was chosen in relation to the surroundings of their company at Palo Alto. AltaVista was publicly launched as an internet search engine on 15 December 1995 at altavista.digital.com.
At launch, the service had two innovations which set it ahead of the other search engines. It used a fast, multi-threaded crawler (Scooter) which could cover a lot more Web pages than were believed to exist at the time and an efficient search back-end running on advanced hardware. As of 1998, it used 20 multi-processor machines using DEC's 64-bit Alpha processor. Together, the back-end machines had 130 GB of RAM, 500 GB of hard disk space, and received 13 million queries per day. This made AltaVista the first searchable, full-text database of a large part of the World Wide Web. The distinguishing feature of AltaVista was its minimalistic interface compared with other search engines of the time; a feature which was lost when it became a portal, but was regained when it refocused its efforts on its search function.

AltaVista's site was an immediate success. Traffic increased steadily from 300,000 hits on the first day to more than 80 million hits a day two years later. The ability to search the web, and AltaVista's service in particular, became the subject of numerous articles and even some books. AltaVista itself became one of the top destinations on the web, and by 1997 would earn US$50 million in sponsorship revenue.

In 1996, AltaVista became the exclusive provider of search results for Yahoo!. In 1998, Digital was sold to Compaq and in 1999, Compaq relaunched AltaVista as a web portal, hoping to compete with Yahoo!. Under CEO Rod Schrock, AltaVista abandoned its streamlined search page and focused on features like shopping and free email.[8] In June 1998, Compaq paid AltaVista Technology Incorporated ("ATI") $3.3 million for the domain name altavista.com – Jack Marshall, cofounder of ATI, had registered the name in 1994.

In June 1999, Compaq sold a majority stake in AltaVista to CMGI, an internet investment company. CMGI filed for an initial public offering for AltaVista to take place in April 2000, but as the internet bubble collapsed, the IPO was cancelled.Meanwhile, it became clear that AltaVista's portal strategy was unsuccessful, and the search service began losing market share, especially to Google. After a series of layoffs and several management changes, AltaVista gradually shed its portal features and refocused on search. By 2002, AltaVista had improved the quality and freshness of its results and redesigned its user interface.

In February 2003, AltaVista was bought by Overture Services, Inc.[12] In July 2003, Overture itself was taken over by Yahoo!.AltaVista provides a free translation service, branded Babel Fish, which automatically translates text between several languages. In May 2008, this service was renamed Yahoo! Babel Fish, after the parent company.

The Site contains links to web sites, web pages and services that are also operated by AltaVista, our subsidiaries or other companies affiliated with us (each an "AltaVista Site"). Your use of each AltaVista Site is subject to the terms of use, if any, contained within each of the AltaVista Sites. If there is any conflict between the Terms set forth below and any of the terms or notices set forth on any other AltaVista Site, then the terms at that AltaVista Site will control your use of that AltaVista Site. Please review the terms of use for each AltaVista Site so that you understand all of the terms that will apply.
AltaVista is pleased to give you access to this Site free of charge. However, in order to access the Site, you will need to establish an account with an internet service provider. You will also need equipment to access the Site, including a computer, modem or other communication device. You agree to pay for all hardware and services costs needed to access the Site and use the Services. AltaVista is not responsible for any of these costs.

The 3rd is The Hotbot.....

HotBot is one of the early Internet search engines and was launched in May 1996 as a service of Wired Magazine. It was launched using a "new links" strategy of marketing, claiming to update its search database more often than its competitors. It also offered free webpage hosting, but only for a short time, and it was taken down without any notice to its users. Though competitive when it was acquired by Lycos in 1998, HotBot has in recent years reduced its scope. Today the website is merely a front end for third-party search engines Yahoo.com, and MSN, as well as Lycos' own lyGo.com. It was one of the first search engines to offer the ability to search within search results. The site still exists, however it is run by Yahoo! mainly.

HotBot, owned by Terra/Lycos, is one of older Web search engines. Originally it just used the Inktomi database and then added Direct Hit and the Open Directory. Then in Dec. 2002, it relaunched as a multiple search engine with Inktomi, Fast, Google, and Teoma. In July 2003, they stayed with the same four databases, but renamed them HotBot, Lycos, Google, and Ask Jeeves. Lycos was dropped in March 2004. This review covers HotBot using the Inktomi database, which they now call "HotBot." See the Google and Teoma (Ask Jeeves) reviews for more details on how their database and interface work, bearing in mind that not all features are available at HotBot. The basic search screen shows no options, but choose Advanced Search for the full range of search features

HotBot offers the choice of three search engine databases:
  • HotBot (which is actually a Yahoo!/Inktomi database, and the version reviewed here)
  • Google
  • Ask Jeeves (the Teoma database)

why we celebrate the valentine day....

Valentine's Day is the day of love and romance. It comes on the 14th of February every year and it is celebrated across the world like U.K., U.S., India, Britain, France, Australia, Italy etc. Different countries celebrate it with different traditions.

Valentine's Day is the feast of St. Valentine. Valentine's Day has a small history which is connected with St. Valentine who married in secret and because of it, he had sacrificed his life to the Roman emperor Claudius. People still remember St. Valentine on Valentine's Day to give honor to him. It is said that the Roman Emperor, Claudius, didn't wanted any marriages to take place during wartime. But Bishop Valentine went against of him and performed marriage ceremonies which led him on death on 14th February and in respect of him, lovers celebrate 14th February every year in his memory. The another belief of Valentine's Day is that on the day of 14th February, when he was executed, he had a visitor and gave him a note to reassure her that said "From Your Valentine" which seems to be origin of belief. Since then, it has is celebrated every year by the people residing in across the globe.

Valentine's Day is a glorious and global festival which is celebrated by the people, especially, youngsters. There is one more factor of Valentine's Day celebration in recent time. On this day, people find way to express their love for their valentine.

The common factor of Valentine's Day to express love for their mate is to give chocolates, cakes, flowers and soft toys etc. to their valentine. This festival of love and romance, that is, Valentine's Day, is said to have invented in pagan times in Rome when people celebrated fertility festival in mid February. The most important rule of Valentine's Day is the exchange of love notes which is called "Valentines" through lovers.

Her FaBulleted Listll in Love

If you want to be "the one", here's how. Or at least, here are things to help you out on the way. Before even reading this, make sure you genuinely care about her.

  1. Make her notice you! If she does, then the easy part is over.
  2. Take your time. If she gives you her number, perfect, but don't beg for it. Call her when you get her number, but not too much. Some days, let her have a chance to call you! This will show her that you guys are willing to keep in contact.
  3. Compliment her when she does something smart or kind. Don't overuse compliments though! Compliment her too much and she'll roll her eyes again and again at your attempts at sweet talk.
  4. Make sure you know things about her. You don't necessarily have to be her best friend, but do be a friend. Let her talk about her feelings with you, and in return try to do the same. But don't pour yourself out. You'll seem weak to her. Unless of course, she asks you to pour yourself, then go ahead. But know how she first felt about you, what her favorite color is and what her favorite book was when she was little. Things like that. But don't over ask.
  5. Be friends with her family. Being a family friend is a good start. You don't want to get off the wrong foot with her family. They sometimes have the power to change her mind if they don't like you. Visit her family and start a good conversation. Nothing like how's the weather. Talk about something you think would interest them. Read the front page of the paper so that you will know what is going on in this world. Then you will have something to talk about and you will not have to try too hard!! Relax!
  6. Get her a small gift. Don't get her the world on its knees. Get her something like a small ring, unless she hates jewelry and can't stand the feel of metal on her skin. Maybe she would like some flowers or a pretty bookmark. If you don't know what she would like, try and figure it out. Here are some meanings women might attribute to various objects--
  7. Ring-Commitment
  8. Hand-Drawn Portrait-Commitment
  9. Stuffed toy--Puppy Love
  10. Flowers: You think she's pretty.
  11. (Note) Do NOT get her something that might scare her or that she might not need or even like (unless of course she has a collection of things like spoons, marbles, stuff like that.)
  12. Meet her friends. Meeting her friends means you're a step up! This means she's willing to accept you into her life. Don't push her to meet them though, let her one day ask "Would you like to meet my friends?" whereupon you quickly answer "Sure!"(If she has friends that are women, do not, NOT, become extreme friends with them, be polite, but not extremely friendly, as this will make her think you might cheat on her with her friends.

Tips on How to Make

Her Fall in Love

  • A simple one here, but one that is often the hardest one to obtain. Be yourself, smile and be honest. You'll find with anyone, just being you is a 100% sure fire way to knowing if you are meant to be or not.
  • Don't over compliment her! If you do, it'll make her extremely bored. But do remember to compliment her sometimes and whenever you really mean it.
  • Don't tease her love by joking about how she could improve in some areas or saying that a 'certain' girl looks extremely pretty today in front of her, not even when you're alone! Especially celebrities.
  • Love is a feeling induced by biochemistry, so learn what situation makes it favorable for a girl to fall in love.
  • Watch the movies boys, it's not rocket science.
  • Girls want something special that only you two share together.
  • Don't ignore her to look cool in front of your friends.
  • Make her feel like she is the one you are thinking about and want to be with and MEAN IT!!!!
  • When you say you are going to CALL, just do it.
  • If it is not working out, then don't drag her on by telling her you miss her the day before you dump her or even after.
  • If you end it end it, don't string her along your twisted web.
  • Don't use 'I was just drunk', as an excuse to get out of anything!!!
  • Look like a strong figure, girls don't like sissies but dont pretend or the girl will find out eventually.
  • Never talk negative about her friends, even if she might be. Just be an ear when she needs one.
  • Don't try to keep her your 'dirty little secret', it will blow up in your face.
  • All women want is just to love and be loved in return.
  • Try and give her the movie kiss she has always wanted.
  • Surprises don't always have to cost anything.
  • Drop the three day calling rule. Don't leave her waiting!! Girls hate that, it leaves them confused and they might start to think that you are cheating on them.
  • make her want you, you have to be special in her eyes, if not what's stopping her from finding another guy?

How to become a millionaire

in 7 easy steps

The road to wealth is not paved with infomercials. Those wee-hour TV staples would have you believe that you'll become "Fantasy Island" rich by placing tiny ads in the classifieds, or by buying up -- for no money down -- distressed property and selling it for millions.

Unfortunately, the only thing you're likely to get from watching those infomercials is dark circles under your eyes from lack of sleep. If you actually go to the seminar or buy the tapes, you'll probably just have more debt.

The truth is, unless you're lucky enough to receive a sizeable inheritance, you'll need to navigate your own route to prosperity. But while Bill Gates-style megawealth may be elusive, becoming a millionaire is definitely within reach of those who start young and develop the right habits. And anyone, at any age, can develop the traits that increase wealth and decrease debt.

"You can have money or you can have stuff, but seldom do you have both early in life," says Jason Flurry, a certified financial planner and president of Legacy Partners Financial Group, Woodstock, Ga.

"Part of our culture is, 'Fake it until you make it.' Debt holds people back. They buy liabilities and they make those payments forever. Spend less than you make, live a modest lifestyle and don't live up to every raise. Some people have spent their prosperity for the next 10 years and they've done it on credit."

It's a matter of choices
Flurry isn't suggesting you decorate your home in plastic lawn furniture, forego cable TV and dine on macaroni and cheese every night. But do you really need to buy a car that's so expensive that you must stretch the payments out five or more years? Do you have to have that 50-inch widescreen HD-ready TV right now?

Many people who choose wealth over "stuff" wouldn't consider spending money on the "latest and greatest" because they know their money can be put to better use elsewhere. Buying a "liability" would probably cause them stress because they'd rather buy an asset -- something that will appreciate over time and give them a return on their investment.

Flurry says he has a hard time getting some of his older clients to spend their money.

"They've been savers all their lives and the thought of spending $5,000 or $10,000 on a vacation is ridiculous; it doesn't matter that they're worth $3 million. They're really the last Depression generation and it's burned in their memory that they need to squirrel away money."

7 steps to wealth
Paring it all down, we've come up with seven steps to becoming wealthy. Remember, wealth is relative, it doesn't necessarily mean "millionaire." The goal for many people is financial independence, says Stewart Welch of The Welch Group in Birmingham, Ala.

"That's the point in time when your cash flow from investments is equal to or greater than your income from work. Look at the statistics: 95 percent of the population never achieves financial independence. For 65 percent of retirees, Social Security is their largest source of retirement income."

The No. 1 reason people don't achieve financial independence, says Welch, is they don't have a written financial plan. So, that is our No. 1 rule for becoming wealthy.

1. Develop a written financial plan
Saying you want to be wealthy isn't good enough. You need to come up with a workable plan and put it on paper.

"The written plan forces you to do something," Welch says. "Calculate what you need to earn and how to invest. The plan isn't just the goal, it's the whole thing -- the dream, the goals, the options. The options are scenario planning -- all the ways you can accomplish that goal -- open a Roth IRA, contribute to a 401(k).

2. Save, save, save
The end result of your financial plan should be systematic investment. Get in the habit of saving money. Build an emergency fund in a money market account so you don't have to raid the rest of your savings and investments when there's an unexpected major expense. Make it a point to save at least half of every pay raise

3. Live below your means

Don't be a walking billboard for overpriced designer clothes, shoes, sunglasses or jewelry. Don't allow your house or car payments to be budget-busters.

4. Lay off the credit
Some people say that if you can eat it or wear it, don't put it on your credit card. That's good advice, but take it further. Try not putting anything on your cards that you can't pay off in two or three months. You need only one or two credit cards. If you have a fistful, pay them off. Remember, debt holds you back.

"It reduces cash flow for other things, including investing," says Welch. "If no one gave you money to borrow, you'd be better off and the economy would be smaller. If they only let you borrow 75 percent of the value of your home, you'd be a heck of a lot better off."

5. Make your money work for you
It takes money to make money, but that doesn't mean you need a lot to invest. Open an account with a mutual fund company that has no-load funds and low expense ratios. Build a diverse portfolio and you can reasonably expect to earn 8 percent to 10 percent annually on your investments over the long haul.

6. Start your own business
In the 1996 book
The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy, the authors state that two-thirds of the millionaires are self-employed, with 75 percent of them entrepreneurs, and the remainder professionals such as doctors and accountants.

"The idea that most people inherit wealth is outdated. A lot is built through businesses. Business creation is the No. 1 driver of wealth in this country," says Zultowski.

7. Get professional advice
A good financial planner can help you fill your portfolio with the right investments and dump the wrong ones. You don't need to relinquish control, but you do need to form a good working relationship with someone who has expertise in this complicated area.

"About 76 percent of those surveyed are actively involved in the day-to-day management of their financial affairs," notes Zultowski. "They get involved; they learn about finances, they're not day traders. They work with advisers but ultimately make their own decisions."

If you can't afford to have a financial planner manage your money, many of them will review your portfolio and make recommendations for a one-time fee.
